What happens in chapter 16?

In Chapter 16, Samuel Steele arrests Maren for her involvement in the robbery. Maren doesn’t resist, but ends up escaping thanks to her escape artist skills. Will is sad and worried that he will never see her again. His father is trying to get the charges dropped, but he knows that Samuel Steele won’t go after her right now since they have to work on digging the train out from the avalanche. Will’s father reveals that he never stole gold like Brogan said, and Will believes him. He also says that he’ll support Will and pay for his art school. Will isn’t as excited as he thought it would be and doesn’t feel like he’s still interested in that. He gets a message from Maren, telling him that Mr. Dorian left the deed to the circus to her, and she plans on opening it up in two weeks. Will decides that he is going to San Francisco, but not for art school, he wants to join Maren at the circus.
