The mosaic of Ana's face on Antipas's floor symbolizes oppression. Unlike the graven image inside Ana's incantation bowl, the image of her face in Antipas's palace is meant to satisfy his lustful desire for Ana. Ana also has no choice but to pose for the mosaic, as it is the only way to secure her brother's release from prison. The image thus represents Antipas's abuse of power, and his willingness to abuse and sacrifice others' comfort to appease his own desires.
