Who is Frau Ilsa Hermann from The Book Thief?

Ilsa Hermann is the mayor's wife. She is a lonely, depressed woman, who continues to mourn for her long dead son. Liesel's picks up and delivers laundry at the Hermann home. In return, Ilsa tries to share her library with Liesel. Unfortunately, the time comes when Ilsa cancels her laundry and Lies becomes angry with her. Liesel steals books from the library. After the bombing on Himmel Street, Ilsa and her husband take Liesel in.
