How does the Hitler Youth Organization leader treat Rudy when he sees him on the street outside the church?

The Hitler Youth Organization leader is very cruel to Rudy, going out of his way to embarrass him. He forces Rudy to his knees on the cement outside the church and begins to beat him. He asks Rudy where Hitler was born, and Rudy purposefully answers the question wrong, drawing the wrath of the leader, who cuts Rudy's hair with his pocket knife.
