Mathin also admits that Forloy, the interpreter, had once fallen in love with a woman. While she agreed to come live in the Hills, she never liked it, and died within a few short years. Harry begins to realize, as she learns more of the Hill culture, that within her lies memories of the culture that likely belong not to her, but to Aerin. She is grateful for them, as she knows they aid in her training.
