How was the man's life? How was his relationship with animals?

The man's youth was filled with happiness. He was a kind and generous man, who loved and kept many animals. During his adulthood, he became an angry, miserable, and often violent alcoholic. He was abuse to his wife, and the animals he once loved.... so abusive, that in the end, he locked them all away.
