Who is Poordevil in The Big Sky by A. B. Guthrie?

Poordevil is a loner. After breaking with his tribe, the Blackfoots, Poordevil lived with a number of other tribes. In 1837, he joined Boone and the others, staying with them until Teal Eye came into the picture.
