Who is Sean from The Beautiful Room Is Empty?

Sean is a character with whom the narrator empathizes. He is young, sexually insecure, and overtly feminine. Over the course of the novel, the narrator has a physical relationship with Sean, who later end their relationship, as he is looking for a partner more masculine in demeanor and less open about his sexual preferences.
