In Bad Kid
The beanie cap with the propellor on top is a symbol of truth. It appears in the story “The Bad Kid.” Hallas describes this bad kid as a boy with orange hair who wears a beanie with a propellor on top. He mentions that on the day following Nonie’s funeral, he found a beanie cap in his mailbox, as if the kid was taunting him. This cap is a symbol of the kid, but it is also a symbol of truth. Bradley realizes that Hallas has been telling him the truth all along when he looks into his car after Hallas’ execution to see a beanie cap in his seat.
