The point of view of the novel primarily follows that of the man. Though there is no dialogue or written narration in the novel, readers can gain insight into the man’s thoughts and feelings in a number of ways. The man’s facial expressions, hand gestures, reactions, decisions, and memories all allow the reader to follow the man’s point of view through the course of the narrative. Readers are also pushed to understand the man’s point of view by experiencing the same sense of confusion and displacement as he does.
