Carnovsky symbolizes the turmoil of Zuckerman’s past that has continued to haunt him. “Carnovsky” is the title of Zuckerman’s latest novel, which was published about four years ago. It caused a rift between himself and his brother, Henry, who claimed that the book was the cause of the death of their father. Ultimately, Zuckerman feels as if he perhaps made a grave error in writing in publishing “Carnovsky,” which apparently catalyzed already deep-seated tensions in his personal relationships.
