Describe symbolism in The Amen Corner by James Baldwin

In Act 3, the themes established in the first two acts are carried out to show a complete change in the main characters of the play. David, acting on the advice and wisdom gained from his father, takes a stand against his mother and leaves to pursue a life of music, a symbolic attempt to find his true self.
