What is the author's style in That Summer by Sarah Dessen?

This novel is written using mostly exposition with a minimal amount of dialogue which allows the focus to remain on Haven as she analyzes her relationships and her life. The small amount of dialogue serves to support her analyses for the most part with the exception of the revelation concerning Ashley and Sumner's break-up which occurs toward the end of the novel. The viewpoint of the novel is solely seen through Haven's eyes.
