In Chapter 8, what does Adam tell Patti Walker that he misses?

Adam tells Patti that he misses holding a gun and being with a group of guys. He misses being a part of a team and working together. Adam wishes that he had a group of buddies living around him so they could sit out back and smoke or drink together. He thinks if he had that he would get better.
