As a result of his head injury, Emory suffers with many disabilities. He is partially paralyzed and has no feeling on his left side. He has no control over his emotions and has no impulse control. He wears braces on his left leg, left arm and left hand. When he goes out in public, he wears a shirt that reads “What have you done for your country? I took a bullet in the head for mine” (93).
