What is The Nephite Clothing?

Garth, Jim, and Jenny return to the modern world wearing clothing from the ancient world, and that clothing symbolizes that they were in that ancient world. However, Jenny dismisses the clothing as being fake, Jim's mother apparently throws his away, and Garth later cannot remember why he has the clothing, making it useless as proof.
