Comment on style/language

The novel is written in modern-day American English, despite the fact that many of the characters speak other languages, including ancient Hebrew. The explanation is that three of the main characters – Jim, Garth, and Jenny – are granted a divine gift while they are in the land of the ancient Nephites. Every language that is spoken to them sounds like English and their words, though spoken in English, are heard by every person in their native language.
