What is the author's tone in the novel, Ten?

The novel has a somewhat playful tone for a murder-mystery. It subverts the genre with its clever, tongue-and-cheekiness and constant use of irony. Meg is going to have fun “even if it kills her.” At one point, T.J. says she will “have to shoot him to get away from him." Similarly, all the murders are literal and specific. Nathan dies from an arrow in his heart, the “heart breaker,” “Burn” guy, etc.
