Why do you think Elizabeth would want to clear Helio Gonzalez of murder charges or does she have another reason for wanting to clear him?

Elizabeth wanted to clear Helio of the charges because she knew he was innocent. She knew he hadn't done it, so she lied in order to save an innocent man from being arrested, tried, and convicted for a crime he didn't commit.
