Book Out Below!

Book Out Below! Is the name of the bookstore where Jessie eventually finds employment. It is run by the mother of a senior a Wood Valley, Liam Sandler. Liam also works there, and it is during their shifts together at Book Out Below! that the two get to know one another. Jessie notes that the bookstore smells like her old house in Chicago, and that it makes her "feel at home" (73). However, the bookstore also contains traces of LA as well; Jessie reflects that the positioning of the children's books next to the financial section "has always seemed a weird arrangement to me and yet so LA, money directly across from the kids" (303).
