What is the importance of Clayton High School in the novel, Teen Idol?

Most of the novel's action takes place at Clayton High School during Jenny's normal high school day. Often, Jenny and others interact in the school parking lot or in the car on the way home. The climax of the story comes at the school's Spring Fling dance, and the resolution takes place at Kwang's home during the anti-Fling rally.
