What does the Montgomery Family Planning Clinic come to represent in the novel, Take My Hand?

The Montgomery Family Planning Clinic is symbolic of power and control. Civil wants to believe the clinic is a platform by which she can help others and create social change. However, she soon realizes that the clinic is using its role in the community to manipulate the bodies of impoverished Black and Brown women and girls.
