In Intermission, Chapter 2, how did Aimee have an unusual attitude to time?

Aimee was different from her contemporaries. She did not use surgeons, live in the past, or tweak dates to make herself seem younger. It appeared that through shear willpower she kept herself young. She did exercise hard. The narrator said that Aimee seemed to be beyond time so that everyone else aged faster than Aimee.
