What is the theme in Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk?

Celebrity is another theme in this book. Most of the novel seems to be a statement on our cultural obsession with celebrities. Today, people do not have role models who stand for something and know how to speak their own minds. Many people find pleasure in worshiping celebrities who stand for nothing. They are not influential political leaders, great actors or performers. They are insincere in the sense that they are a pre-packaged marketing campaign used to simply sell products. As a society, we follow every step they make and watch for mistakes and imperfections.
