What is the author's style in Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk?

Tender's language is very straight forward in the book. This causes him to be brutally honest and candid with the reader. From the very first page of the book, Tender bares his feelings and inner thoughts. This makes sense for the character because, while tender was growing up, he was not allowed to express any feelings or opinions. He was only allowed to think about how the Church wanted him to act.
