What happens to Father Mulcahy on the house boat?

When Father James Mulcahy takes a trip on a friend's houseboat on the Henderson Swamp just outside Breaux Bridge, the tall man from the pawn and gun shop boards the houseboat. Mulcahy recognizes him as the visitor who cautioned him not to break the seal of confession and pulls a shotgun on him, forcing him to leave.
