In Chapter 5, Perry writes to his Uncle Richie, describing his experience of watching the young Iraqi man get shot; the experience haunts Perry and he writes, “I know I won’t ever be able to talk about it. I wonder if that is the reason you never talked about anything that happened in Vietnam.”
