What is the author's style in Sudden Fiction International: Sixty Short-short Stories by Robert Shapard?

Almost universally, the language used in the stories of Sudden Fiction is florid and evocative. This may seem an obvious statement, but the brevity of the stories necessitates it. Because the stories are all six pages or shorter, they generally deal with an incident lasting no longer than a couple of hours.
