In Chapter 5, what does Hebdige say is important with regard to why a subculture is formed?

Hebdige states that it's important to not just focus on why one participates in a subculture in terms of transforming from an immature to mature state of being. Instead, one should also study the historical context of why this change occurs. Understanding the history behind the change will hopefully give more answers to the definition of a given subculture.
