Simone is the narrator's obsession. Over the course of the novel, he seduces her, pulls her into his sexual fantasies, and brings her to the point where she not only participates in sexual encounter but becomes just as obsessed as he is. In the end, Simone's obsession leads her to kill a priest and happily go on the run with the men.
