The language of the story is familiar, easy-going, and yet filled with the elements of magic. Harry Dresden's entire character is made up of magic and as a result the entire story is surrounded by elements of magic, both good and bad. Butcher makes a commentary on magic through the use of language in Storm Front. As with all things, there are good and bad in every entity, and magic is neither good nor bad. How magic is used defines it. Butcher has Dresden thinking as one would think, using common and modern language both in his speech and his thoughts. He also makes very good use of dialogue and showing the reader a scene rather than always describing it.
