What does Seriphos represent?

The island of Seriphos is symbolic of safety and belonging. Indeed, Danaë finds a home here after escaping her cell and after Dictys saves her from drowning. The feelings of security and comfort the place affords her are later threatened upon Polydectes's arrival.
