When Sarah Byrnes asks her mother to come back and testify against Virgil, Julie refuses and says that she didn't believe that she could live through the humiliation of a court hearing. Julie said that she wanted to, but she just couldn't. Then, on top of everything else, Sarah Byrnes would have to deal with her mother's suicide.
