What is the setting of Startide Rising by David Brin?

Startide Rising by David Brin is set primarily on Kithrup, a volcanic, water-covered world orbiting the dwarf star, Kthsemeneem, in a rarely-visited portion of the Galaxy. It has not been surveyed by the Galactic Migration Institute in some 400 million years. No details about the Karrank% species to which it is given as a place to die with dignity are preserved in the Library of the Five Galaxies. The exploration vessel Streaker puts down there after being damaged in space battles in order to make repairs. Streaker is forced to make an extended stay when the Galactic war follows her to Kithrup.
