Alexia has a mother and two sisters. She also has a stepfather. The stepfather seems to be a nice enough type of guy but he allows the ladies to walk over him. The women are interested in spending money on dresses and gloves. The mother has no idea that Alexia is a preternatural even though she has been told. The women in the family basically ignore Alexia except when they worry about Alexia's unconventional ways that could destroy them socially.
