How does the author use foreshadowing in Sophie's World?

In Chapter Ten, Sophie sees her reflection in the mirror, and another girl winks at her with both eyes, leaving the reader with the knowledge that something magical or out of the ordinary is going on in the story. Both the mirror and the pictures foreshadow the existence of two realities that are somehow interacting, that of Sophie and of Hilde.
