Abraham (Abe) Bronstein is the editor of a small literary magazine, Other Voices, Abe is a long-time, personal friend of the much younger narrator, Robert C. "Bobby" Luczak. Abe is a sweaty, disheveled, cigar-chomping, little man who works in a crowded little office in uptown Manhattan and at age fifty still lives with his mother in Bronxville, NY. He interacts with few people.
