What does Jupiter represent?

Jupiter symbolizes an expanding world of possibilities for Iris. Wendell, whose family is incredibly accommodating and has learned how to sign excellently to communicate with their son, who is Deaf, is representative to Iris of a life that she does not have at home or at school. She watches the planets with him and is reminded of what could be possible in her life, and eventually, she does convince her parents to have her go to the same school as Wendell.
