When Oluo discusses the way in which people must “challenge the legitimacy of white-centered education,” (104) she names several elements of education that are currently not serving students of color. She states that textbooks presenting a white-centered version of history are problematic, as are standardized tests, which are routinely used to exclude and oppress people of color, who are not taken into account when standardized tests are created and vetted.
