In the final chapter of the book, Oluo underscores the ways in which talking will only get us so far in the fight for equality and social justice. She notes that at some point, the time for talking is done. Once someone understands the basics of how and why race function with the society of the United States, they should try to begin to take action. Oluo provides a list of 13 different actions people can take to fight oppression, including supporting art created by people of color, supporting increases in the minimum wage, and boycotting banks known for extending predatory loans to people of color.
