Intersectionality is a concept that most warriors for social justice believe is crucial to achieving equality within the United States. Intersectionality is the idea that in order to address any one form of oppression, we must keep in mind other oppressed groups needing support. Oluo and others assert that no real progress can be made in combating racism, for example, if we do not also keep in mind the fight being waged for women’s rights. All forms of oppression are interlinked and one form cannot be combated in isolation from other forms of oppression.
