Persse McGarrigle has two letters from London when he returns to Limerick from the conference. One is from the publisher Lecky, Windrush and Bernstein, reminding him that they would very much like to see his thesis on the influence of T.S. Eliot on Shakespeare. The second is from the Royal Academy of Literature, informing him that he has won a one-thousand-pound prize for his poetry.
