Comment on style language

The language of the novel is generally spare and plain, with the narration functioning in a rather brisk and utilitarian fashion without an abundance of ornamentation. For example, when Nomi describes the murder of her father and brother at the beginning of the novel, the brutal scene is described with fairly simple language, and Nomi’s narration eschews overly complex or emotional language.
