What is the author's style in Skeleton Coast by Clive Cussler?

The point of view of Skeleton Coast is written in the third person narrative witness. The author authentically describes the actions of each character, with concentration on the main characters, Juan Cabrillo and Sloane Macintyre. While there is a little attention paid to the thoughts of the main characters, they are referred without depth of emotion. The protagonist, Juan Cabrillo is well described and outlined in detail, as is the antagonist, Dan Singer.

The story is told in an exposition style with scattered dialogue throughout. This method helps to keep the characters organized as the author alternates between Cabrillo, Singer, Sloane and the supporting characters that round out the adventure. Any other type of narrative would have likely created more confusion between the characters, but the descriptive narratives bring the characters and their environments to life. The reader is not given insight to the most private thoughts of the characters, but the omission in no way detracts from the story and the way the characters are represented.
