How does Edwards use metaphor in the sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God?

Edwards gives several metaphorical examples to illustrate the kind of power God has; for example, he compares humans to worms that God can easily crush underfoot. He also compares this justice to a sword that is always hanging over the heads of the sinful.
