American movies tend to stereotype Asian women as submissive and helpless to control their lives. Their lives are presented as just ornamental - often in the role of a lover, a wife or a mother - controlled by their male lovers, husbands and sons. This stereotyping reinforces non-Asian's perception of Asian and Asian American women.
