The novel is presented from a third-person narrator focused on the limited perspective of Kyung Cho. The limited perspective means the reader knows only what Kyung knows, and only makes new discoveries as Kyung makes them. The main example of the limited perspective is seen in the fact that Kyung and the reader believe Jin's account of the attack. He believes that the Perry brothers broke into the Cho's house with the plan to rob them, and that the brothers were responsible for all of Mae's injuries and all the damages done in the house.
