There is a metaphor of the Importance of self-esteem through the narrative. The lack of self-esteem seems to be a prevalent problem among the hosts of the television show with only a couple of possible exceptions. What's most interesting is that the characters find various ways to deal with their lack of self-esteem. In the case of Peggy Jean, the cure is time-consuming and detailed. Peggy Jean takes her role as homemaker in the family very seriously. She has spent such an enormous amount of time and energy on this front that it has become second nature. Meanwhile, she greatly admires Princess Diana and seeks to emulate her whenever possible.
