What is the author's style in Sellevision by Augusten Burroughs?

The story is written in third person from an omniscient point of view. This is the only available option because there are multiple characters and events going on, some simultaneously. The details of the story would be too greatly limited if presented from a single character's point of view. The scenes are transitioned well so that the reader should have no trouble determining the current perspective. For example, Trish shows the diamond ring to her co-workers and that section begins with Trish's name and the action.
