Hope is Jessica's best friend. Jessica and Hope grew up in Pineville together. When Hope's older brother overdoses on heroin, Hope and her parents move to Tennessee. Hope has blonde hair and is beautiful. Jessica says that people are drawn to her and Hope makes friends naturally. Throughout the novel, Hope and Jessica are writing letters back and forth with each other to keep one another up to date on what's happening in their lives. At the end of the novel, Hope surprises Jessica by attending Jessica's high school graduation ceremony.
